Default XY Wheel offsets! Please help!

Lads,

Dad is finishing off his 13 year build of his XY (GT mock)... the thing is immaculate with mostly genuine parts. Its got a stout 351, toploader and 9 inch but I have finally convinced him to get rid of the white painted globe wheels and get into some weld / centrelines!

The only problem is we dont know what offset to get on the rear. He wants some fat rear tyres and a nice dish. A friend has 265/?/15s on his and they are a custom rim (unsure of size) and seem to be ok... rubs occasionally on the inner gaurd however.

The gaurds are NOT rolled and he does not want to get them done.

So, if you know the correct offset we're chasing and even better if you can provide a picture of how it looks!? His friend is trying to convince him to get 17 inch wheels... pfft... c'mon lads help me out so we can give this XY the finishing touch it needs.

ps: The diff is a standard length 9"
Brett

Offset is the distance the hub mounting surface of a wheel is offset from the centering of the wheel, measured in millimeters. Its either a + or - figure, so the XY has an offset of positive 11mm, dont stray too far from that number and u will be fine. As far as wheel size goes, im afraid ive forgotten almost everything i ever knew about that side of things mate, sorry.

how low is your XR is the diff standard length or shortened?
I just measured my diff it is 1515mm, drum to drum. My rim offset is 3.5inches with this offset it slightly rubs my dual 3inch pipes only on large bumps. In the near future I will dump the pipes before the diff which will allow me to go to a 4inch or 4 1/2 inch offset rim. What offset are your rims tuffxr?
