Angry Starter Problems...

HI ALL
I thought id get ask for some Help from ppl who may of had similar problems.
I've put an AUto in my Ford (XE ESP 351C, C4auto with 3800 stall).
OK now when you go to start it, theres a screeching sound .. coming from the starter motor ( clapper type starter but starts up all the time no probs). It feels like some bolt is rubbing against flywheel ( metal noise), checked flywheel no visible damage but not 100% sure . I 've tried spacing Starter Motor out slightly with a very thin and a normal thin plate , still same noise but havent had the chance to start car and take starter out as I aint sure if i should do it. The noise is there on start off and when you rev it a bit , it gets louder BUT the car cranks perfectly . IM thinking can it be starter motor? or Auto Sandwhich PLate? ( maybe thats bent abit?.. as it was used before on another car but hadnt had problems with it whilst in another car). Can it be converter? althought its new , FLexplate new aswell ....
What is it?

I'm pretty sure manuals had a spacer on the starter. Your not still running the spacer are you? Make sure your starter pinion gear is retracting. Make sure the wires have been put back on correctly too. If the starter is worn out? Those $150 ebay high torque's work well. I use one in my XB and the extra space gained is very nice.
