Default airboxs for carbys?

im a little concerned about how much of my carb/filter will be out the bonnet... so, with the boys in blue not liking filters out the bonnet too much, i was thinking of an airbox setup.

was going to use a extreme velocity carby hat, and an airbox from a later model car (prob a ef-el falcon) with a cold air feed so have plenty of the cool stuff.

i cant see many problems and, if the carb hat does go out the bonnet, its all rounded edges etc so if anything the rego boys will swing more in my favor perhaps??

tell me your thoughts

Cheers

as far as i am aware anything protruding from the bonnet has to be covered, fiberglass scoops are acceptable. holes in the bonnet are also ok as long as they are not through the bonnet frame or the bonnet frame has been suitably modified and reinforced. check the ADR's website.

I'm nor sure on the NSW rules, but any engine, carb or filter part that pokes out of the bonnet in QLD must be covered by a scoop made of equivilant guage mild steel as the bonnet.
again, that's QLD.

for your airbox setup, I'd concentrate on a generous radius on the intake to the carb and enough filter area.
For the 460, you will probably need 2 airboxes to use a decent standard sized filter, even with a K&N.
also, you would need the 2 airboxes to get enough intake pipe area for your setup.
