Default HQ monaro mods... where do i start!

Well.. Basically weve modded everything.. but some of the most trick things weve done include making alloy clamps to hold the fuel and other lines in the engine bay fron scratch, and also fitting up the AU thermo fans.

These we have some pics of!... well finished shots of the clamps but yeah.. Hopefully this qualifies.

Clamps: I purchased some plastic ( not cheap!) clampos here were supposed to suit braided and pushlock fuel lines to neaten up the engine bay. Well they were utter crap so we decided to make our own! Here's how we did it.

I started off with a length of 20x20 aluminium bar which we drilled, counter
sunk and tapped to take the bolts that would end up bolting them together.

We then bored the appropriate sized hole between the bolts to allow the hoses to come through. And then cut the clams to length. We then linished the radius corners on them and the linshed finish on the faces and bead blasted them to finish the job! Sounds easy... but 3x 3hole -8 clams, and 2x 2 hole -10 clamps took us a BIG day's machining and on a 36 degree day.. it wasnt a whole lot of fun! But as you can see in this pic, They came out REALLY well, and i'm over the moon with them. Something you cant buy but we made em!

The clamps are on the left side of the shot holding the fuel lines, as well as on the -10 heater hoses of the far side of the bay!

THe AU fans we trimmed to fit my PWR radiator and then mounted them to the radiator to form a complete unit. We then fitted the whole thing into the car! Viola! Instant cooling

Cheers!

Awesome stuff Tiny! It's custom mods like these that really make a car standout from the rest. The effort you put into these has most definitely paid off! Well done mate!

Love the clamps, I have been planning to do a similar thing for my heater hoses(on gas you have heaps of heater hoses. LOL). I did the same thing for my thermo fans but mine are EL and are mounted on the front of my radiater since I don't have any room for them on the engine side.

He Tiny

Love the clamps. Might do some for my own. I'm on gas too so I've got lots of hoses as well. By the way, where are the convertors hidden?

Thanks for the comments guys!

Ive gotto get my finger out and make some more clamps cause ive added a HEAP of new lines in the bay for fuel return and rocker cover breathers, but ive been LAZY!

Ive got the sydney car festival coming up beginning of feb... might have to ask my engine builder if i can make some more snow in his workshop again!

Thanks again for the comments!

3fitty: All up... <$50... including stainless steel cap screws, the ally bar and some neoprene that put beneath the clamps so that they dont scratch up the paintwork!

Not bad when you consider we made, 3x 3 hole -8 clamps, and 2x 2 hole -10 clamps, and the plastic heaps of garbage i bought cost me $20 for 2x 2 hole -8!.....

Thanks Rat454 and slidera! Ive gotto actually find a closer pic of the engine bay when it was completed.. that is quite an old pic of while we were still working on it!

Cheers... *heads off to find another piccie*

Like a finger in a glove mate! Its funny.. since that pic, ive added a fuel pressure reg with return line, so theres now an extra line for that, as well as new rocker covers and a breather/catch can... so lines for that.... This bay is getting full! LOL

Lucky i didnt have a bigblock!

Cheers
