$400 for leathette retrim, i get the skin myself and fit it myself
$1200 for leather retrim, i give them the seats, they give them back to me all finished leatherette is more durable, doesnt crack, but doesnt smell like leather, and doesnt feel like leather... the lighter colours are much easier to tell that it's not leather.

Sure why not?

What is leathette, is it a vinyl/fake leather? I wouldn't have thought that something like that would be more durable than leather (assuming it is looked after), plus the prices are high enough that I'd say the difference isn't enough to settle for anything less than the best

ummm
its not vinyl, not leather.. yes, imitation leather, the biggest disadvantage is that it doesnt breath bmw offer it on many of their new cars, and than charge $2000-$3000 for real leather. and from what i have read, many owners are opting to spend the cash on satnav or sunroof. http://www.e90post.com/forums/archiv...php/t-163.html

you see... i see leathette as the better value thing... MUCH better value for money
and easier to clean, softer, more durable... just wanted to know what everyone else thought. what would others do in my situation?

Leather or nothing.
actually, not nothing. that would be uncomfortable. if the leathette doesn't breathe, then you'll eventually find yourself putting seatcovers on it anyway. if it's just the look you're after, then by all means, go the leathette

Many people are opting with the leatherette option (may also be called pleather? man made (synthetic) leather).
Haven't sat in it before but I'm hearing more and more about it, so it's popularity is rising. If you are considering it, I'd definitely find someone with it and go for a spin with them. |
