Default Fuses??

Just thought i would go through my fuses after washing my car and noticed that some fuses that were in had a higher rating then specified by the manufacturer. Is this ok, or only a problem if the fuse has a lower rating than required?

Also i noticed a fuse was missing. By missing i mean not even a connection to place a new one, it was for 'level ride' or something, but i noticed that another fuse had 'level ride' in the description so is this alright???

p.s. i have a Series 2 VS Calais

I've got no idea what level ride is.

but, your fuses should be no larger than manufacturer's specifications.

they don't put wiring in that's any bigger than is needed, so your fuses will be fine whereas the wiring will burn out if there's an issue.

we'll all put higher rupture rating fuses (or a bit of Winnie Blue packet ) in, but only to get home. it's not a recommended practice.
fuses blow for a reason and replacing them with higher rated ones doesn't fix the problem.

it's all down to the wiring.
i had 90/130 headlight globes in my Pajero, but I couldn't go any higher than 90/100 in my Commonwhore, because the wiring wasn't up to 130 watts x 2 (21.7amps) of current draw.

end rant

i was having a browse through my fuses yesterday (VS II Ute) while i was playing with the abs on/off () and noticed that it didnt have the level ride either.. the level ride is when the car lowers or drops the hight of the rear suspention using pump up shock type things... our statesman has it... turn the car off and you hear the air been released, and watch the car drop about 10mm, when the car gets switched on, you hear a small compressor kick in and up the arse end of the car goes.
we once were towing out 1.5t boat loaded up with 5 big guys through windy roads, when we heard a hiss, the connector from the airline to the shocker had too much pressure on it and popped off... that 10mm that the car dropped caused the mud flaps to rub on the road, grinding them down... and because the compressor was working 24/7, it burnt out the motor in the compressor..

all in all, level ride was an option in the HSV gear i believe, hence the reason we dont have it.
