Shortened Diff into HKTG Monaro
Looking into my diff at the moment and I want to fit a shortened diff so I can fit wider wheels.
Been looking at 9 inch with 31 spline 355-1 ratio 14 inch wheels 235 60 14 tyres.
I have decided on this ratio, as I will more than likely fit 16 wheels later.
Q is, What is the best way to determine the correct width without making it too short?
What I was thinking is, To get a 235 tyre (no rim fitted) and putting in the wheel arch over the top of the stock diff with the wheel removed.
I figure an inch of clearance each side should be enough to allow for tyre movement.
Then measure from the centre of the tyre or from where I want the centre of the wheel to be.
Then allow for brake drum or calliper clearance.
This should give me the correct width.
Or am I over thinks this whole thing.hithead
Any help appreciated.
