yea the cae stuff is not so great to many diffrences in there quality controll what i have found with doing a few of theses now is a basic combo thatworks great but some times you need to tweak a bit

tuff mounts for the engine and box t400 is what is commonly used use stock turbo mount gearbox cross member
pacemaker headers these were desiged by john zappia btw
a cae starter conversion and i use always a all fast converters converter to suit ls1 to turbo box so you dont need machined spacers

with this package i never had an clearance issues ive done a few and i did one in my own vk

thanks gem8, i would prefer tuff mount stuff, but thought everything would fit better coming from the same company, cheers for that info
oh, another thing, when using the cae starter relocation do you have to use their starter? or can i use something else?

Interesting reading ..I'm wanting to do the same conversion in my vh sle but not sure if I'm gonna run injection or carby as I can't be stuffed with all the wiring and computer. Plan to run t400 and already have turbo vl diff in the my vh.. Does any1 know if I will need to get engineers report for this conversion as I have already done the vt brake upgrade with slotted rosters front and rear and changed all the brake lines and master cylinder to 1" .

No chance of that mate . Starter gets bolts to a plate that sits in between motor and box . It's a jap style starter but has a billet snout and rear support bracket etc . Pm me about this as I just got & fitted mine .

another small update, my hx left for its new home yesterday, just in the process of setting spider bombs and sealing the shed properly. i hate having a dirty/dusty shed and mine always manages to get crap in it every where!! so ive gone bonkers with silastic filling small holes, have 2 bigger ones to fix tomorrow with new iron, will then get some space invader foam to fill the gaps in the ridges along the roof.
biggest issue though is the shed has 2 large sliding doors and when ever the lawn gets mowed etc dust and crap gets blown straight under. thinking about getting that cheap plastic garden edging from bunnings and screwing it to the bottom of the door. wont be ideal but will help and wont grip the concrete like rubber would when opening/closing the doors.
next step is clean the shed of dirt and spider webs, move my fj45 cruiser to the far side and the vk will have its new home!
also have scored a v8 10 bolt disc brake diff for $350 i think this is a pretty good price. its getting removed from the car saturday so i will have it saturday arvo.

ok bit of an update, most of the sheds sealed up except for the doors, im sh!t outta luck there, theres pretty much zero room for anything to be screwed to it, so i grabbed some old sheets and stuffed in the gap lol, just have to be pulled out and replaced when i open the door haha oh well!

anyway, ive picked up the diff, its a 3.08 lsd salisbury in good nic too, also got a letterbox grill, scored some ls1 into vk tuff mounts on ebay so they are on theyre way, couldnt help myself and bought a new pro ratchet shifter as well.
oh... and i ended up biting the bullet and there is a wk caprice ls1 on its way here as well. so the post mans gunna be busy this week!
heres a pic of it in its new home for a while...

excuse the state of the benches lol, everything got thrown on there for my clean up, just have to sort that stuff out and mount me back board and paint the benches

bit of a story when i got it in there actually, thought i had it in the position i wanted, got out to have a look (car still running) yep all good, next thing the starter kicks in, wtf?! so i reach in to hit the key and theres smoke coming out of the steering column! crikey jack, rip the terminals off!! lol
so looks like i have a little issue with some wiring!

yea mate sorry for the late reply i forgot about your thread i have not been able to find another starter even through work thats will fit and work im pretty sure they are all custom made to fit with there respective starter relocation kits both i have seen have diffrent starters slightly you will love this conversion small mods to make the car go fast and be reliable i beat up on mine all the time

the starter begs the questerns though what happens if you need to replace one in the future and you cant get a replacment one easy anough i think it stinks what these companies do to make you buy theres parts of course you could rebuild it but com on there needs to be a kit were you can use a generic starter

for your shed doors try this mob
    Door Seals of Australia

They make aluminium channel with a dense brush. They make heaps of different sizes and you can screw them to the bottom of your door.

gem8, no worries mate, and yeah i know what ya mean about replacing one. as 2avoid said he thinks they are jap thing with a bifferent billet snout and support, someone will probably work out exactly what it is from and we may just be able to buy that and change some bits (but i could be way off lol, havent even seen one!)

cheers chequebook, will look into that, could be the go!
