These are some pics of the bad repair work that someone else done a few years earlier. One thing that I don't understand why not cut it out. So that it will not come back like it has. My thoughts are cut out until there is no corrosion left behind.

From memory I think that this foam was an after thought in the late 70s early 80s to try and stop these things going up in smoke. In this area it goes straight into the cabin of the car another thing was when these things ended up on thier roofs the fuel filled the cabin and up they went real quick and killed alot of people. but they didnt realise that stuff burns aswell, but I suppose it slowed the fuel getting into the cabin. Can anyone elaborate on that

The expander foam was there to stop engine bay heat and fumes from seeping up into the roof cavity Vido. Most of these poo barges had perforated headlinings in them so any fumes that got into the roof cavity would seep down into the cabin and send the driver (and passengers) to sleep ......... forever!
I'll come for a walk tomorrow after tea and have a squizz

Talked to a couple od people about it and thier thoughts on it aswell where when they did catch fire it slowed the fumes down giving the driver and occupants time to get out. Looks like I will be putting a full metal wall in there somewhere as it dose lead straght to vents on the inside cabin. I will get pics of that tomorrow........... Bloody Germans and there gas chambers..Ha Ha ....... Sorry not
Meaning to offend anyone . Just thinking out load.

Wow, the horrors of the deep. But as you know too well, it's the only way to do it right.
