Awesome write up. I'm currently doing something very similar with my Hg. What brakes are you going to run on the rear? With the wheel back space and the leaf spring position I havn't found many options.

Please don't do the motorbike cap, really won't suit the car.. What I did on mine to solve the fuel splash problem was to gut out two gaskets out of cork gasket sheet and put them on the cap so it was a tight fit. Also welded a baffle to the bottom of the fuel filler tube that covered 3/4 of the pipe. It took a bit longer to fill it up with fuel but it never splashed out anymore.. And it looked all factory stock which is the best IMO..

Cool build GROVER subscribed. You have got ideas running through my brain with what i am goin to do with carb now, was goin to use the standard holley and have never given the predator a thought, i always thought that they were big like a 1050 dominator and not adjusted to what they need, am very interested now so would like to know if they fit under the bonnet running a victor jnr style manifold. The only thing i could think of is to cut the air cleaner and drop it over the carb. Would this give you enough space.

no ive never seen one untill 5 mins ago, looks like a pain a little research says you need about 7 inches from intake to bonnet for clearance seems a pain in the butt, when there is plenty of other carb options around
this pic shows a drop bases for the predator scroll down looks like a just a normal drop base filter
