we'll the electric windows once again fell through got another set lined up tho, hopefully 3rd time lucky, stopped into the scrap metal place in town today becasue you never know what idiot would scrap hq-wb stuff, stumbled across a passenger side electric window, mech and motor, paid $5.50 for it, motor is stuffed i think cant get it to work, still where can you get the mech cheaper than 5 bucks lol, also bought a hq single headlight nosecone, middle is caved in but i only wanted the section around the headlight to fix my twin headlight front, so 10.50 well spent i reckon lol

The motors have little contacts inside them that rust up a lot. Most times I just clean them up and they are good to go.

yeah ive pulled it to bits, its just like the wiper motors, its been sitting outside for a fair while, when i give it power the plugs on the motor just spark and nothing happens, im not touching the terminals together or anything stupid like that

you may know already but they are dual wound motors, you earth the body and you have one terminal for up and one for down. if you power both terminals it dont do much.
-

i have a spare motor you can have if you get stuck for one.

i thought you just swapped the power and earth to the other terminal to go up or down, how do you not power both terminals do i have to earth off the mechanism not the other terminal? i had electronics, i got bitten twice by the leads on my 202, it had a miss so dad said pull the leads off and if its the cylinder with the miss it wont run any worse, #1 lead, bare hand wacked me
#2 pliers with rubber grip, pliers and leads then flug across the paddock, #3,4,5,6 went and bought new plugs and leads lol
if you want to sell it id be interested, ive got another set of electric windows lined up to buy but until there in my hands theres no guarentees, pm me a price or any parts your chasing for a trademy hq build

the motor armatures have 2 sets of windings on it. one makes it spin one way and one the other. they earth through the door frame when they are bolted in so all you need is to earth the body of the motor, usally around the bolt hole works well and then just apply power to one of the terminals at a time.

you can have the motor, i think i may need a few lttle odds and ends down the track with my ute you may be able to help with.
keep your eyes out for wb statesman rear doors at swap meets, most ppl throw them out cheap but the motors are the same. thats were i got some spaeres from.
i hate plug leads as well dam things lol. some of the electrics can be a but confusing at first but there not to bad if you can get your head around them.

i had another go power to one terminal earth to the motor and got nothing, not even a sqeak so i thing shes had it or i killed it lol
cheers ill take you up on that but ive gotta give you something for it tho, if youve got a list of stuff your after ill see if ive got what your after
you read my mind i allways try to get back door parts, door handles, door strikers, window winders or motors in this case because they get used the least and like you said people dont normally want them
im can normally get my head around the basic stuff i hate wiring diagrams and getting zapped, i reckon the leads had a bit better wack then an electric fence, theyre good fun lol, when friends from sydney etc come to visit i allways try to get them to touch the fence damn it makes me laugh, doing it for their benifit ofcourse gotta give the farm experience bahahahahahamy hq build

Slowly getting there mate! That fascia looks real good! great job. What buttons are you using for your electric windows?
-
13-07-2012, 10:30 PM #447
yeah very slowly, im in the middle of redoing my fascia it wasnt perfect, im going to use aftermarket swithes for the windows, going to put them in the ashtray hole in the back of the console so you cant see them, just have to reach behind the console, that way the doors look smoother, only the arm rest and door handle

ive changed my mind on the thermos so ill take some photos when i make new brackets at work, anyway sold one car yesterday, sad to see the poor old girl go but atleast it wont sit there rusting away, then went to town saturday arvo and picked up my new freebie hx wagon, got her runnning today, drained the fuel pump and put some new fuel in and down the carb and off we went, no brakes what so ever, not even a handbrake lol, been crusing around with the dogs, in the back with the seats flat, its so gutless its not funny but i love it, ausome to drive, just cruising, cant get it above 75km/h lol, sounds pretty sweet for a 202, its a ex-charity rally car, got a bash plate under the box and sump, has a 3 core rad too, bit of damage tho, i think they must have hit a big bump and the fan has hit the rad, but still working fine, dont mind the 3 on the tree but id rather a 4spd :P

and bought a wreck of a stato, originally bought the a/c out of it, but i need all the ducting and stuff, so i bought the rest and ill transfer each part from the stato to the ute, he was only going to scrap it, ive allready pulled off all the chrome/stainless trims etc etc, got one good guard and 3 good doors, bucket seats, uncut woodgrain stato dash, the rest is stuffed, going to literally next door in a few weeks with empty car trailer so she'll come home on it, there was 2 good guards but it got stuffed when he picked it up with the loader
also smashed the rear quater, but i was cheap and ill have a empty car trailer, thats what i bought as it sits
