Try not to shit me please
|
Just thought I'd give a run down of progress on my hk, affectionately known as poppy. There are photo's of him in my user profile for anyone interested.
Basically he was found stock as a rock. 161, three on the tree, Brow, whitewalls and drums all round. Not rust, reasonably straight. That was in january 2008. I should get my motor back before xmas. 355, vn heads, 286 cam, acl pistons, harrop intake, 750hp holley. Street motor. Behind is supra 5 speed and vn bw diff ( modified by me). VN discs all round. Suspension has been fully rebuilt. New bushes, springs, shocks etc. 2 inches lower. 15 x 8 b45's 245/265 tyres. fit just. Aim is to drive it this summer and then paint and do interior next winter. I dont want to do a how to thread because k383, lx406 and coopht's thread are of a quality that i'll never get to. But no one else has put a spanner to my car yet. Its not a race car, not a show car, its my car and for me and the kids to use and have fun in. |

Nice one ahk. Love the engine bay in particular. It's not a look i usually go for, but the scoop suits it quite well. And i have a lot of respect for anyone that does a home build, it's all the little things that take most of the time and effort and you get to know you car to the last detail, from inside to out.
I would love to see it wearing steelies, lowered, and with the stock steering wheel, it'd look like a real retro cruiser, pretty much my favourite style. (but it still looks good now mate!) Is there much of an old holden/aussie muscle scene in tassie? I always had the impression the few modified cars down there were more the "fully sick" hot4s type. |

Looks and sound like it will be great car when it's finished, starting with a strong heart to make it go, manual tranny to, fun times coming I think .
Nothing like building a car yourself

Bummer, let's hope you show them the error of their ways.
![]() Once i've got my HZ done i'll probably hop on the spirit and come down for the weekend. There's some beautiful roads down there. Plus you i can sleep in the back of the wagon and save on accomadation while i'm there! lol. Also sounds like my car, 'cept and old bloke owned it. He filled the gaps between the quarters and the firewall with space-invader/expansion-foam to stop it rusting. Strange thing is it actually worked... |
