Default HQ GTS Coupe rebuild number 2

hey guys,
thought I would start a project thread for the coupe.

I have decided to pull it down and make it right, it bugs me the way it is.
so, here is the story so far:

I bought the car 4 years ago, it looked like this:

after a week, I had it to this stage:

it was a slog, but after a 10-day easter weekend I got it looking like this:

I added the GTS stripes about 10 months later.

I am selling the driveling at the moment and am planning to throw in a big block chev, TH700 and 9inch diff.

I then want to paint it in it's original colour which is this:

Blackwatch green.

I also want to add white GTS stripes under the clear.

I am thinking of keeping with GTS rims too, eventually going for a set of old school muscle rims or similar.

I don't want it to be a show winner, but I do want it to be nice.

I will keep posting as stuff happens over the next 12 months.
take it easy
Ash.

Will be great to see this happen ash, im pretty sure my coupe was the same colour green!

Only thing is i dont think a t700 will stand up to a big block? they have enuff trouble behind 304's.

But you probably want it more for the 4th hear right?

Any plans for interior?

yup need the overdrive, I am tossing up the box, I think that a t700 will handle it built properly, as I won't be running it on the strip every weekend, but a mild t400 will last a lifetime. it will be cheaper in the long run to go t400... probably...

as for the interior, I am thinking of going back to original trim, that way I can pull the fattie out and go back to 308 and sell it as an original type vehicle when they go through the roof again.

Good on ya Ash for taking this brave step.
It's gona be a hard slog alright but I'm sure if you take your time and find the right
tradesman to do the job it will be worth it.
Don't do things half assed, you'll kick yourself in the end if you do.
About the T700 option, my wifes father was building a 650hp chev and was looking
at doing a T700. It was going to be so expensive to do it. Some guys in the states build tuff ones but they ended up being way over his budget. Do a T400, run 3.55 gears and you'll have the best of both worlds, especially with the big block.
Good luck

Ash just go the 400, its stronger, easier and cheaper.

I started off with a 253, then a 304 and TH700, now its a 500hp chev with 5000 convertor. You know itll end up being a monster so only pay for the good stuff once!!

Yea i have same idea keep interior original and body/paint the same so an engine swap can get it back to stock
