Default gts dash

hey guys,
i wanna put a gts dash in my HZ kingswood 1 tonner, my spedo reads ahead (about 20klms) i got told its cause of the toyota 5 speed under her?
will this be a problem with the dash conversion and is there anything else to it apart form getting one with everything working and a full wiring loom?
cheers Tim

Easy conversion, all you need is the replacement instruments and surround, wiring makes it easier. The speedo will read exactly the same, drive speed needs to be changed at the box end.

The difference is the colour , its easy just pull the glass off and paint them any color you want , but for the purists I think the symbols are different between the HJ and the HZ gts gauges , if you dont tell anybody , we wont Know !!!! To correct the speedo go to CRS or Dellows and get a correction Box.

I think the HX ones were white and the HZ yellow (the needle may even be a slightly different shape), but like 400 says the difference only matters to original restos. Also I think there were some slight differences in the dash lights (e.g. high beam, one is in the instrument and the other with the brake indicator lights in the dash panel...?) - I had one made up of bits and pieces and it ended up with no high beam indicator at all and had to cut the dash to add one in to please the powers that be

The highbeam indicator is in the Speedo , a blue light , top left , but in early stuff come from the old foot switch , from the stalk in HZ on .

That was my problem. One model had the high beam indicator in the speedo and I am led to believe that the other had it in the dash with the hand brake and brake warning lights. The assembly I got had been in a Bedford or something and had various mixed and matched parts which resulted in no high beam indicator at all.

i forgot to mention i have a hq front end, will this be a problem with getting a HZ gts dash with the wiring to the front?
the engine is a hz, and the dash in there atm is a hz kingi ( i think )
its got spedo to the right, water and fuel guages to the left in the one section, and the warning lights in between them
and there the square guages, i think the hqs are circle???
so would the hz gts be ok, or to match the front end do you think the hq gts dash lolz and will both of these be ok with the engine/front end wiring?
also where do i get this box for the spedo? the setting has been done in the spedo itself? lolz im confused hehe
cheers Tim

ok another stupid question, my current dash has a fuel guage, water temp and spedo,,,, with handbrake, brake, oil pressure, and battery charge low warning lights....
the wiring looms i have seen on ebay recently have just been to the big plug in the cabin (dun know if this is how they all come but yer,,)
my question is will i need anything else like sensors (oil/water) for the guages to actually read on the gts dash? being that mine are just warning lights
cheers Tim

Yes you will definitely need an oil pressure sender to support the gauge (big bulbous thing, the one you have now is just a switch on/off only), and possibly a water temp sender as some of them at least are different ranges. Everything else should be fine.

Rare Spares are very expensive but at least its a start:

https://rsp-secure.com/rarespares/ (p/n 9932442 is the oil pressure and I think 7438478 is the correct temp)

Might even be able to buy them genuine, who knows? Just make sure you get the ones suitable for gauges.
