Default HT buildup

well - as a few are aware, i've got a HT i landed off ebay about 5-6 weeks ago -- after a relaxing time in bali i've come back sluggish then ripped right into the sucker

ysterday I started ripping it all to bits and started stripping paint off the roof and rear quarters - the main goal is to have the ol girl painted by the start of october, so im cutting it fine but still leaving enough (hopefully) .... i'll be the one stripping it and then doing the first primer coat to seal it up from nasties like rust - then it'll be transported to the local bodyshop for straightening and getting lines all smooth and a good lick of a dark green metallic paint, should all work out sweet and i cant wait to get the end results (im 24 and impatient gimme a break) being a sparky and never painted a car and ripped it to pieces, im learing alot about how the body fits and where things are, enjoyable but hopefully my only time at doing it...lol

anways, not much really to tell at the moment, except for a before pic taken yesterday lunch time and a 'right now' pic taken 20 mins or so ago
(remembering i have worked a shift and had a nagging gf and a boxer pup to walk - i think im coming along at a nice pace)

anyways.... the before shot

Looking good there so far. What motor are you thinking for her.?

I personally liked the original colour scheme, yellow with the white roof!!!

What was wrong with the old paint? I see there was something going on on the right c pillar but apart from that it looked smick as.

i looked at the before shots last night and i started thinking what am i doin, but really, the paint that has been used isnt what i'd be using for a car respray and after seeing what was going on with the right C pillar, i just had to see whats going on with the rest of the car -- i've heard things about buying cars off ebay and so far im coming away with a pretty decent ride for pretty cheap ... dont get me wrong it was nice but the pics do it a bit of justice i think ... a proper paint job ather than a rushed backyarder is going to look soo much better

as for motor - well, i'll be tackling that after the respray, give me more time to 100 percent decide so many ideas and ways to go

What colour was it from the factory? I reckon the yellow looked ****ing awesome (maybe without the white roof).

Looks like it's going well mate, keep up the good work.

it did look pretty sweet in the pics, was kinda offish in real life, needed some attention - i would like to go full on metallic yellow with the respray but feel without the white roof it'd be kinda yuck, bit too much IMO

pretty sure the original colour is green, its behind the door drims and underneath everything im stripping

Keep up the good work

If you've got Street Machine mags from around 1995, there was one with a Blue and White 55 Chev on the cover. In there was an HD all canary yellow and it looked awesome. Similar shape, great car. (Yes I remember every car from every issue).

more hot action today with the old girl - nothing really went wrong pulling out the radiator, engine and trans - lifted out the front seats and carpet too, was gettin too dusy and dirty and now it dont matter about over spray - floors look good too with a touch of surface rust which i'll tend to more pics for those interested - not bad so far for just shy of 7 days work ... with all normal life activities on the side lol
