Default Vk commodore diff options

I have a vk, currently a 6 cylinder, looking at putting a half decent 308 into it, around 300-350 hp, was going to drop a vl turbo diff in, but i was told to put a vn v8 etc.. diff in as they are only 20 mm wider and half the price and have 28 spline axles ?
Any help would be great, cheers.

Exact same diff, only the width is different. They are easier to find, just watch your wheel clearance, you may have to do a little work. Good diff.

The VN diffs are probably mostly 3.08 ratio but the crownwheel and pinion are all interchangeable (even the VK 1/2 gearset)

Mate I'd question a VN/VL diffs' durability with 350 hp, especially if driven hard.

you really think so, mac?

they're not that fragile, I would have thought

any diff is suspect with enough abuse

i'm with you wabbit, guys are running borgy's in their vlt's and doing very respectable times down the qtr without any dramas with them. any diff will pack it in if you give it too much grief!

I got a mate with a vk and its packin an extremely healthy injected 5ltr and ford t5 with a standard welded diff and he's had no problems. He does 3rd and 4th gear skids too.

Got to admit that I've never had 1... had mates break plenty with a bit of spirited "performance testing"...

Remember that if you're talking about VLs, the majority of them had the 2 spider centre and smaller 25 spline axles, only the Turbos and V8s got the proper version.
