Default What oil does everyone use

I'm in a bit of a delema. My engine builder wants me to use Joe Gibbs or Redline oil but the problem is it's around $25 a litre. And when I have a deep sump that holds 8 litres, it gets pretty expensive.
Just wondering what oils you guys use.
Would the American Penzoil do the job or what else would be recomended??
By the way it's a 500hp 383 chev, nothing special.

ah im using hpr10... good stuff.

i think it will depend how ur engine is built as to the viscisity your wanting.

you want oil up the top pritty quick so id say go around hpr10 (ish) i wouldn go a full synthetic oil for that car you prob want a mineral based oil.

I use semi sythetic 10-50w penrite

tho in my VW motor it will be getting redline for sure.

Wouldn't mind running it in the chev but I will have to seal the motor up better so the dollars arn't used on a drip tray
