Default Hj Gts

Ok here we go,
I've been a member here for a long time, mainly to track a couple of mates builds etc, but have never posted.

I just got my first V8, so I thought I would fill ya's all in, and try to keep everyone up to date as the build starts.

So about a week ago I got a HJ GTS 4 Door Monaro,
I did tell everyone I got the car as I wanted to surprise a couple of people.
(Sorry Woodsy)

Big thanks to Skiddie for all his help, could not have done it without ya man,
also to Tim (Asylum) who was also there for most of the work. Even have to thank Russ,
having to call him late Saturday night to ask about setting up a holly, so thanks man.
I think I’ll stop there or I will never get on with the story.

Its currently just a 308, needed a new trany so Ash was kind enough to part with his
trimatic for me, the guys at the converter shop made me up a converter and expressed it to me
so I could have it ready to go in on Saturday. Also needed a couple of other little things, eg. fuel pump etc.

So the plan was pick her up, and get her running all in the same day,
well things are never as easy as they sound, ended up having it running just after lunch on Sun.

So we picked her up Sat morning with Ash’s ute

That’s her, she doesn’t look like much now, but she will get there

Everyone hard at work, well not me…

We used Ash’s workshop, so much easier.

Well we got her running (not well as she need a new carbie) and off to the wash

(yes I feel like crap, damn flu)

I’m not sure if Ash is lookin at the car or me in this one, but I’m a little scared.

So that’s the start of the project.
Now I just need to sell my ricer, and then I’ll have some money to play with.
Don’t really have any plans set yet, thinking I’ll go a chev, but I’m not sure there are just too many options.

Well that’s about my story so far,

Cheers
Dirriel

looks good, but please for the love of god stop molesting that car by using those hideous recycled water salt laden car washes...

Good to see another 4 door in the build, once the coupe owners are too scared to drive them because there worth too much, we will OWN the roads. lol.

Kind of like my car accept yours is the real thing, mines a HJ 75 4 door kingswood with GTS bits and pieces (replica not completely finished), 308 and TH400.
I thought the monaro's had body colour mirrors? or black mirrors?
Didn't they also have blackouts around the windows?
Not sure thats just what one of my dads mates told me while he was reliving his teen years by looking at my car haha.

Looks like a good project, maybe we could exchange notes down the track. What are your plans?

If you wouldn't mind saying, can I ask how much you paid?

not sure about the parts u describe daniel as im into the commodores myself, but this is genuine, problem is previous owner, or owner before him bought it as a bare shell, and built it back up, most parts are still genuine gts, but there are some that arnt

Fair enough.
Most people still call mine a GTS when I take it out and I've taken the badging off, only the grill emblem remains. So most people dont know the difference, except the Holden nuts or V8 nuts.

Edit: Noticed before you have stockies on your ute, how do skids go with a car trailer on the back?
Don't say you got a flat, stockies are on both sides :P

thanks Russ, I always wanted a Prem or Kinga,
so when this came alone it was just too good a deal to pass.

Thanks Daniel, yeah not sure on the plans, I keep changing my mind,
I need to sell the ricer and find out what I can get with the cash.
As for the parts question, what skiddie said.

Haha thats the spirit, skids with trailer on the back.
I can't wait to get my new 3.55 gears in with the new LSD centre.

"what skiddie said"
Thats not nice calling him names
Make sure you keep this thread updated, will be looking to pinch some idea's. haha. These damn things are expensive though, I went to buy a new glove box lock because mines stuffed, they want $70. Be prepared for expensive prices for the smallest of things, not like the ricers.

Out of curiosity what ricer did you have?
Also waht made you want to sell it and get boat?

pic's of the new motor when I decide what I'm going with.

That looks like a reasonable car to start a project on. Stay focussed and good luck.
