Default LX torana brake upgrade

Hi all, im throwing a 355 stroker into my lx torana, whats the best/easiest brake upgrade, i did the hq conversion on my old torana years ago, it was done by the rod shop using drum brake stub axles.

Best is the Hoppers Stoppers kit, either 290mm for 15 inch wheels or 330mm for 17 inch plus wheels, but these kits are expensive. Worst is using HQ stubs as it causes suspension problems. The only other feasible option I've seen is using the UC two piece caliper with the wider HX pad carrier allowing you to run a thicker/vented disc in the factory Torana diameter. I went with the Hoppers option: LX Hatch (some positive comments on that upgrade by others too)

From memory, as it was a while back, the kit i used was actually torana drum brake stub axles with a machined plate on the back, i did first up use hq stubs but it put front wheel way in at the top, would have chewed inside of tyre out really quick.

Yes I think the early kits required the Torana drum stub but what Hoppers sells now is basically the same sort of conversion that fits to the disc stubs. They use AU3 twin piston PBR calipers.

I have the hoppers 330mm kit. Holy shit it stops like a demon. The smaller kit is only 1100 or so. But it includes everything you need.
