Hi, I would like to upgrade the rear suspention of my XA Coupe. Have got the info pack on the RRS three link rear but have had a bit of negative info on them since and it was suggested to me in another thread that i should consider a four link set up.
Does anyone know where i can get some info on a four link and is there anyone out there who produces one......... Any help with this will be greatly appreciated ![]() |

There are two types of four link, the parallel 4 link (great for drag cars) and the triangulated 4 link. Street machine did an article on rear ends a few years back, it might be on their website. Any good fabricator should be able to knock up a 4 link but also macdonald brothers racing make a weld in kit if you want to check their website out.
im curious as well to what negative feedback you heard on the 3 link. |

The joy of the rrs setup is that its basically bolt in.
Any aftermarket 4 link will require cutting/welding meaning engineers, plus if the guy doing the job is a monkey it will crab all the way down the road, if he gets it right youll need to be a rocket scientist to understand how to set it up and make it work in competition. If you go this way, start learning about Instant Centre, Anti-squat, pinion angles and all that other stuff that goes with it. If its just drag racing, maybe look at a ladder bar, way cheaper to fit, and "easier" to adjust and understand. If its circuit racing, the parellel 4 link might be the go, but dont discount the rrs setup. If its a streeter, and you dont want to engineer or cut up the car the rrs might be good, im pretty sure the latish camaros used a similar rear suspension and are considered pretty good so its probably not the design thats faulty rather the application to your falcon, "IF" the rrs is "no good" Last edited by greenhj; 08-05-2008 at 12:30 PM. |

looking for ideas for the engine setup and mentioned a little about what i planned on doing with the rest of the car (RRS 3 link etc) thats where the negative feedback came from. As i mentioned in the other thread a friend out west has the RRS setup in his XD and i was lucky enough to have a drive around the local track before and after fitting and the result was pretty impressive, and Howard Astill (see the April 08 Street Machine) fitted the RRS to his 66 Mustang with, quote, "XE Style watts link with coil-over shocks with 50mm of height adjustment and adjustable damping", this is what i am looking at. Funnily enough the neg-feedback was from a Mustang owner............ ![]() Last edited by XA351COUPE; 08-05-2008 at 04:22 PM. Reason: spelling |

(am being watched closely)![]() I will more than likely go with the RRS Three Link unless there is another bolt up Four Link system that is proven to be better out there, maybe the engineers at RRS could look at that. After looking at it i cannot see why it would not work, it may need a bit of fine tuning but what dosen,t with generic bolt ons............ ![]() As far as the negative feedback, that was from a Mustang owner, see Xa 383 personally i dont know anyone who has fitted the RRS Three Link to a XA Coupe and torn around a race track, but i have had a drive in an XD fitted with it (see above) and was impressed........ ![]() |

Im sure if you rang rrs theyd be willing to point towards someone who has it fitted already.
You need to take everything you read with a grain of salt, do alot of research before handing over the folding. I havent been in a car thats had it, dont know anyone with it, but spent an hour or so looking at an xw on display with it fitted. I dont see why it wont work. |

So why didnt it work on his car? What was his problem with it, and what was rrs response?
Youve already named the bloke so posting it shouldnt be a problem |
