Angry Broken Studs *%#@

OK well ive had to broken studs. There are the end two on chrysler small block heads that go straight through to the water jackets (rusted in) the 1 remaining is broken below the gasket surface and so far ive tryed:
-Drilling to ezy out it (wont drill to hard)
-So heated it and let it cool to try soften the stud for drilling... DIDNT WORK
-Tryed building it up with weld and cutting to flats to remove it heated the head around the stud weld didnt stick..... I tryed this as it worked on the other broken stud...

Has any one got any other ideas or secrets on how to get it out????????

Cursing usually helps. If you get to the point of welding I find that its a lot easier just to weld a long bolt to the end of it kind of like a T handle, means that you don't have to stress or reduce the weld by cutting/grinding it. Doesn't always work first time but keep at it and hold your tongue right. Seems strange that you can't drill the stud, maybe your drill bit is blunt?

Hey it wasnt a blunt drill cause it bluntent my centre punch.... I will be sending this one off to the machinest to stress over! Tungsten drill would do the trick but i need a jig to hold it all square so ill leave it to him....
