Default Hornet

Hey guys, am normally on the holden side but am about to aquire a 72 amc hornet sst. Ive seen them with chevs ford and mopar engines but not sure would be my best option. It has the 4.2 six atm. I thought along the lines of a 360 and a 727 box. But it is new territory for me. Are the 360's easy to modify and how strong is the 727 tourqueflite tranny? Also the diffs in the hornets are they deemed capable or am I up for a nine inch for reliability
