Its somewhat believed that a couple of barges of Valiant engine parts was dumped out to sea as an artificial reef. somewhere in the vicinity off the end of Semaphore or Brighton jetty. I even heard stories that scuba divers had found this area, sounds to me today as a exceptional wifes tale.....( but we wernt so environmental back then either )
And another story from an older bloke i worked with years ago, who left when it closed. ( i grew up as a kid around same area Tonsley Park, Adelaide.) Anyone else hear the story about the mildly down syndrome bloke who worked there and his job was to put the knobs on the stereos and heater elements and that sorts stuff..... there 20+ years and always dreamed of owning a car he made.....But his parents sucked alot of his cash from him........ so when they closed the company the managment decided to give him a standard no frills CM or CL valiant...and not money..... He wanted a purple one. So as this val came down the line, they blokes said "psssst this is Wallys car" so out came the tipples, then Psssssst came the bucket seats, Pssssssst came the whatever.... and when it rolled out the line into the yard all the knobs had come done for the presentation and out rolled this 4 door auto charger with all the fruit and legally badged from the factory.....??????????? apparently the car was sold by the parents a year or 2 later and some bloke wrapped it around a tree in the Adelaide hills. God Teenagers are gullible ! but hey thats where legends come from dont they. Theres probably the same story at Fishermans bend ! |
