Default 1953 chrysler desoto engine

wondeirng if anyone has and info about the engine in the old beast, its a 6 cylinder hemi, do these things have balls or they just and old anchor??

Is it the original motor coz i don't think the Hemi 6 is that old. if it is a Hemi then yeah mate they have plenty of Balls. The 215 & 245 Where alright But the 265 was an animal of a motor when opened up right

no idea mate i'd have to have a look at it , where would i be looking at to find the size of the motor??

it should be stamped into the side of the block. usually anyway. i also think it may be on one side of the head as well?????

Not on the Hemi's it has to be worked out by the engine number. check the first 4 numbers and let us know i'll tell you what it is

I think you will find its called a dodge Q engine. Not a real ball tearer engine but is robust enough. Lots of people used them in boats. Its not a hemi by any means, just an inline vertical valve engine with a bath tub chamber.

If it's an original engine the manual had a 218ci and the powerflite a 228ci flat head six.

These engines put out about 100BHP which was pretty good for it's day.
