Hay for the last 10 or more years weve had a 69 valiant regal stashed in the shed with 36,000 miles on the clock straight as a die but developing some cancer. IT IS TIME for her to shine agin as we are in the hunt for a doner car for rust free panels,
The one thing im trying to work out is wat is the maximum sized cam you can run reliably with the standard rockers as dont want to lash out on rollers but want a nice lumpy idle. modes to this motor will be minimal, bore, hone, deck, acl kit through and a cam lifter pushys and springs as needed, maybe a lite head massage to... any info on the cam would be great!! Check out the regal and others on www.mcraeracing.8m.com |

There is a God !!!!
another chrysler head praise lord. normal street driven 318 with a massaged this and tickled that ? yea 5500rpm maybe a bit more if you use a cams with a bit more Advertised durations(especilly the exhaust on 318 heads). they are easier on the valve springs hence valve trains. My tip as its a smaller engine in a mid sized car is go around 215 @50 and keep 112 degrees of separation to give a broader torque curve. if you can find a exhaust duration of around 225 that will compensate for the poor exhaust design of these heads. Some will say this combo is under cammed for the RPM ??? My opinion is that you create the torque earlier in the rpm range, this gives it the get up and go.... and the engine survives on RPM higher. then you get a good bottom end to pull a bigger car out of a rut without a after market torque converter. and a free breather up top. retains good mileage and good manners. then if you go to the 360 ? id say something different. Its the principal of boats, most of the power is getting the Hull out of the water. and after that it survives on engine rpm. as the drag is lower as its riding on the plane..... |

Hay thanks 4 that i had a look at some cams and found a crow cam with 112 degree and 224" on the exhaust. rpm range was 2000- 5000 just wondering though how much lift can be ran with the standard rockers and with out machineing the spring seats in the head? all i realy want to have to do is fit new springs, lifters, and push rods with the cam... cheers
Oh if youve seen my site dont worry about the SS to much as it is only practice for the real thing now! Iam Chrysler over any GM or Ford, looking at a 360 in bits for $500 at the mom just to play with for wat ever toy comes up |
