Default Hemi Question

Do you need to have a hemi block to make a hemi or is it just the heads??

ummm, i think teh answer would be NO. because
A: the spark plugs are no longer in the block anymore, but in the heads. and
B: the cylinders banks are usually wider to accommodate the extra width needed to have the spark plug in the head if its V8. what is your plan by the way???

oops, i thought i could go the other way around (440 crank will fit a hemi) by putting on the hemi heads.

and do you mean 245/265 hemi or 426 hemi?

to my understanding, a Hemi is a stand alone engine. like the Max Wedge(sizes were the 413/426), which the 426 Hemi was based on. but as far as i know no parts from a B/RB mopar big block will go into a hemi/max wedge.

i'm not too sure on our Aussie inline 6 Hemi's tho.

And you would be wrong.

You can use the Hemi heads on a 440, I have built a couple of this combo using both the B and RB block. seeming as the plugs go in the heads on a 440 as well. The only difference is on the hemi head is that they in the middle of it. Now also the hemi was a b model block which is not to be confused with the early 331 or 352 block in the early 300C.

hemi blocks have a different oiling passage, how do you get around that?
