No you couldn't use them, offset is the measure of where the wheel bolts on side-to-side. Modern cars use wheels that bolt on at the outside of the wheel, whereas earlier cars are usually more centred and have a deeper dish. This means the AU wheels would sit further under the car and most likely rub on guards and possibly hit things like brakes and steering.

the AU onwards stud pattern was/is 114.3x5, where as the late VG-CM was 114x5 and all fords upto EL(i think). and yes the offset might not be correct either, you can get some adaptor hubs and then get the AU pattern rims. but they won't fit directly on
