Does your engine No start with D3 or D2 D3 Is the 265 D2 is the 245 Chrysler had a lot of weired stuff on thier blocks but the engine No is the best way to tell. I think

If the block is the same (other than bore size) then there's no reason for the 265 cast onto the block to mean that it's definately a 265. Ford 385 series V8s (429 & 460) all have 460 cast on them (some in mirror image)

yes,

but 245s don't have a capacity cast into the block. and you can't bore a 245 to 265.

I'd say it's a 265 and bugger the engine number.

you could always measure the bore, since they're the same stroke.

I'd check the bore diameters for you, but "She who must be obeyed" is sleeping in the room with said tech manuals, and you're not worth my sex life.........

hang on.....what IS half of nothing?

you're not wrong

with the availability of parts for them these days, you'd reckon the prices would start to soar

All depends what your budget is I guess, you can get a factory reco 318 or 360 long motor for about $2800 from Surburban Imports in sydney. Not sure about transmissions but there are usually a few 727's kicking around the classifieds.
