i doubt the crate engines would have the same kinda machining that a custom would with decking, line boring and the like. they are production units afterall.

anyway dont crate engines generally need reassembly??
guess they are a good starting point to build something up.

suspect............ how do you find the gilmer pulleys??
how loud are they when the cars driving down the street? i know they are pretty noticeable at idle.....but at revs?

SUSPCT - To be honest I think your engine is probably worth around the $9k - $10k mark. Its got some very good bits. Thats as long as its making the power though. It would need to be putting out around 480-500hp.

Off topic, I wouldnt get too tied up with crate engines (except possibly the shafiroff engines). Ive seen the eagle engines with guaranteed 400hp being engine dynoed at 320hp. You dont always get what you pay for!

Some are, some aren't. There are so many configurations you can order its unbelievable.

As for the shafiroff or any imported engine, don't forget you have duty, customs fees, import fees, transport, and GST on top of ALL OF THAT! The price of the Aussie dollar doesn't help with the currency conversion either.

Mark, it is hard to get your price with a used second hand engine. I would like to say it's worth around $8,00 but i fear you would have trouble getting that for it.

If you are thinking about getting something else, my advice would be either work with what you have, or try and sell it to someone looking for a good strong engine to drop in and forget.

Don't think SUS is too worried at the moment anyway, he will be able to sell it no worries after he runs an 11.00 with it on saturday
