Ok,i'm going to buy some new sbc heads in the next week for my engine.so far the short list is:
racer pros pro topline/proaction dart iron eagle brodix track 1 i'm not overly worried if there alloy or not as the difference would be bugger all on a street engine (which this is) what intake port cc's would suit a 600-650 hp 392 ci engine.i'm thinking around the 220cc range. dunno if 230cc would be to big. remembering that it is a reasonable budget engine,i cant go to stupid ![]() |

We have 235cc on a 355 in the altered. Isnt it a blower engine?

Did you consider AFRs?

Ok nice how big are the throttles? Would you like a tune up for it?

if you can tune a delco,i'll happily use one of them.
haven't quite decided of the final engine specs yet.budget wouldn't allow for an after market block,so i'm stuck with a 4" bore.and there is no price difference between 3.750 and 3.850 cranks.... but so far we sort of nutted out 11.5:1 comp, racer pros (or similar) decent solid roller.some where around 630hp ish. so it'll probably turn to just over 7k. will spray it later ![]() |

Be careful with the throttle size as with your specs you've only got 204ft/sec @ 7000 rpm which is a fair bit lower than you should have. You may need to sleeve it above the blades or sleeve the ram tubes at least. I've been there done it and had to do that! Racers are a good head, Id prefer to use Paul Wilson's stuff than any US stuff. delco's are very comprehensive, you 'll never get an aftermarket with as much tunabilty unless you go motec (go $5000 for an efi computer?) If you go delco get a VR or VS not VN VP

i don't mind turning it harder.i was originally thinking it'll be an 8k screamer. my only real limitation is that I'd prefer that it runs on pump for street duties.so i was even thinking of 2 different tunes (pump for the street and 105 at the track).
driveability, economy, noise etc. don't concern me at all. can you tune on the engine dyno? i don't really want to do to much once its in the car |

You can but it wont be as drivable. You need to drive in reallity to tune it the load factors change so much and you cant load the dyno as though its a car on the road at 60kmh.

You dont need to load it Lol. All the parameters need at least 1 box in each column (Loadcells) locked in then you can use the computer to make an estimated guess. And you can tickle its anyway you wish from there. Part throttle tuning is very important for the cars drivability.
