Default New Intake Problems

Hope fully someone can help me i have replaced my intake manifold and carb and air filter and now i have an oil leak. The oil is running on top of my trans out of the back of the engine somewhere, i am pressuming it is where the manifold joins the engine near the oil pressure sender. Also my vaccum pressure is around 10.5in HG vac and i'm sure it should be around 20in hg vac. I also have a pretty lumpy cam so i'm not sure if it should be a little lower than normal. I was wondering if the two problems were related. And if anyone had any tips on locating exactly were there is a leak...

Cheers

Here are a couple of pictures...

they are related,
your heads / block arent shaved are they??? if so your manifold has to be shaved to suit
one way to test if its sitting properly is to coat the heads / block with coloured grease and sit the manifold ontop to see its got 100% contact...

20" is a little high for a cam with a decent overlap what duration and lsa does it have and did you use silicone or the cork gasket between manifold and block.

The most common oil leak in that area would be the valley seal near the dizzy. I always throw out the gasket and run a neat bead of silicone about 1/2" thick instead.

What type of silicone do you use? I assume you use silicone at the front as well?

That loctite grey stuff is good stuff. Check clamp pressure on your dizzy. Also you can remove dizzy and ring gasket and replace(dummy fit) It should bottom out on the manifold. Found this once and had to make a thicker gasket for it.

another way to find out where the leak is, is the pump compressed air into the manifold slowly and have some soapy water in a spray bottle and spray where you think the leak is.
a old drag racer and engine builder taught me a good trick with intake's, get some contact adhesive and paint on the block and intake surface, don't be shy with it either. wait till it gets tacky and place intake port gaskets on and the front and rear cork gaskets.
then paint the contact adhesive onto the intake manifold also put a decent Dob of silocene in all four corners where the cork meets the head grab your four bolts and gently place the manifold down, screw all four bolts half way in then put the rest in, torque all down and it will never ever leak, this is good way of sealing down the manifold but an absolute pain in the tail pipe to get it back off.
