I am going to change the box in the wifes impala.
She has a powerglide and i want to put a t700 in it,
can anyone tell me which box i need, vn,vt ? what mods i would have to do / like will it bolt straight up ?

she is running a 350 zz4 4 bolt block with 9.5-1 comp
Pro Action Alloy heads
Crane roller cam and lifters
Crane roller rockers with manly studs
Edelbrock Air Gap manifold
700DP Holley
MSD 6AL ingnition

its only pumping out 400hp so i think a t700 should be able to handle it?

VN or VP box would be the easiest. From VR on they are electronically controlled.

as said the VN/VP T700 are the best to use. the VR pnwards actually use a 4L60e gearbox, which is essentially a T700 but electronic. the T700 are cable driven and the 4L60e is electronic. if u want to put a T700 behind any worked motor, i would suggest getting it built first. is stock form, they are weak useless piece of shit (thats the best way i can discribe them lol). get it build with stronger internals, a corvette servo piston, stage2 shift kit and a decent convertor, which would probably be needed for the cam anyway. and make sure u run a decent trans cooler with it aswell. to get the box built to handle to power, with convertor will probably be around $2500 (give or take abit).

ultimatly, i would suggest a T350 though... a lot stronger, and alot cheaper to build.... and u dont have an annoying 'lock up convertor'

If building one for street/ performance you can get the lock-up function taken out and run a non locking convertor.
Simplifies wiring also ,no need for TCC switch.
You can't just run a N/L convertor without the mod as trans will over heat. Stock, full flow to the cooler only works when
trans is in lock up.
