Default part number for oil pressure sender unit - 5L 305 Chev

Hey guys

have any of you have or know how toget a GM oil pressure sender unit for my 82 (60 psi) 5L 305 Camaro here in Oz. - Does Holden have one the same?
Mine has the one with a metal bowl on it , but I do know this was off a torana and he has changed the spade conneter to a circular connector.

Hense probably the reason why it reads over 60 PSI even when the engine is switched off!

I just want to get it back to factory and working!

cheers

I believe so, the unit on there at the moment is off a torana and also looks the same, but it had a different connection. (not compatible for a spade terminal

So i'm not sure if the guage is playing up inside the car (reading over 60 psi with engine off) or because it is from a Torana it maybe different.

I know the original was leaking and the previous owner may have just put it on there because it fitted and stopped the oil leak!

Do you know one for sale?

disconnect the wire from the sender, thatll tell you where the fault lies.

A quick phone call to a yank wrecker should see you right, otherwise maybe one from an aussie 307/327/350 H series or even a good old holden v8 will likely be the same.

Eagle auto's springs to mind as they import a lot of yankee iron if its an oddball sender, theyll be able to give you the part number, then wander down to your local spares joint and find out whats the same and over the counter.

...Or wait till someone better answers the question properly!...

agree..which is why I posted the pic (its from an early red 308)

plenty around ..wreckers or Eagle will have these floating around
coz they have been fitted to plenty of Holdens and GM imports
over the years

depends I reckon

the one in my race car shows 25psi at idle
and goes to 80psi at full noize (on an aftermarket VDO gauge)
but some of the old Holden V8s I had showed only 10-12psi
at idle with the needle flickering
and maybe 50psi max
