Default 350 chev stroker help

I was just looking at getting a 350 chev block with 383 stroker kit, what do they mean when they say crank is not cut and shut?
I have never heard that expression before.

Cheers, Dom

The term cut 'n shut when applied to cars and car parts usually means that two or more pieces have been joined/welded together to create one whole piece. Not many of us are interested in buying highly stressed parts like chassis rails and cranks that have cut 'n shut!

In the older days they used to modify the cranks and cut and shut the noses and rear weights, these days everyone just uses a 400 crank and simply grinds away some of the lower cylinder walls for clearance to achieve the 383 combination. Thats why you run a 400 harmonic balancer and a 400 flexplate when converting over to a 383
