Default flexplate for 350 sbc/350 g/box

hi all
this is my first chev & need to know what size flexplate i need to use with this auto thingy. never had an auto as im normally to insecure to let someone else chang gears for me lol. anyways its an early 350 block with a turbo 350 box with dominator stall convertor. do i use the 153 or 168 tooth flexplate & is there a reason why one is better than the other.also as there is a difference in size does this then dictate the type of starter motor i need to use. any help is appreciated as i need to get both starter & flexplate so i can bolt it all together....thanks davo

Davo, go a 168 tooth flexplate and starter to suit as they are different. This is also more common than the 153.

All 350's had 168 teeth, larger diameter also helps to crank over easier.

also pick up an alloy hi torque gear reduction starter if you can, i couldnt use mine on the 400(different mounting bolt location) they are a lot easier to manhandle underneath the car, and ive found with pulling mine out twice over the last 4 days that with extractors and an 8l sump the extractors need to be almost completely removed to get it out, never had that hassle with the little hi torque, it dropped straight out
