Default My 350 has intermitent starting problems

As stated above, It wont start every now and then. It's a Eagle Auto spares crate motor, with approx 20, 000Kms on it. I've checked Fuel, poured fuel down the carby and it still doesn't start, so I checked spark, no spark. I ripped the dizzy cap off and cleaned it up a bit, still doing the same problem. Anyone know anything about these motors, and the dizzy that comes with them, or any other problems I might have?

Mate, it might not be the dissy causing this, it may be a number of things including a weak coil.
What sort of dissy; points, hei,?
How old is the cap, rotor button coil etc?
Process of elimination is the key i think.

has it got a fair size 12volt wire going to the coil??? TRy pulling up 1 end of the coil wire to just give it a tiny gap, if it starts you need to check the wiring supply to the coil. Or get a new coil.

If its a carb 350 it probably has an AC Delco HEI dizzy with the coil in the cap. I'd be checking for voltage going into the dizzy first.

Grab a meter or test lamp and check the 16 gauge cream colour cable heading to the dissy for power on reds, when you crank the motor this power should not dissapear. If no power, check glass fuse under dash, if power dissapears when cranking could be a bad keybarrel (or even immobilizer on alarm if fitted) i've had that problem before.
