Default advice on 350

Hey guys, im after a bit of advice to get my car down the 1/4 a bit quicker and dont have much money to throw at it (say under a grand).

Chev 350 010 block
4 bolt mains
holley 750 DP
Shot peened rods
Flat top pistons
Balanced
Ported fuellie heads
hydraulic cam
victor junior high rise manifold
double valve springs
mech fuel pump

what would you guys recommend??
1. cam/lifters/rods
2. ignition upgrade (ignition is procomp dizzy/Multispark ign box/coil)
3. 100hp nos kit (bout 500 bucks)
4. something else?

Ignition ?

It constantly amazes me that people spend huge sums of cash of making engines breathe.
But fail to recognize that the ignition system needs to be upgraded to suit the extra demand....

Hall effect distributor and multi spark CDI

I dont go for Optical trigger these days as ive had the carbon brush in the cap, dust up the optical pickup, and then it starts misfiring. And cleaning them with a cotton bud is a pain in the arse as i dont certainly have any in the glovebox and any time or another.

Get a Bosch ignition - only the big brands will out do that (IC&E etc)

Change your diff to 3.9-4.11, get a 3500rpm convertor (roughly)...

Even if you leave the convertor out those two things will make a huge difference.

DO NOT BUY A PROCOMP IGNITION SYSTEM!!!!

Where do you buy your parts PRO?

All that for under a grand, SWEEET

If you pay full price like the rest of us lol, Id go with a cam and diff gears, you should be able to do that for a thou, itll give the old girl a fair kick up the bum.

A small solid and a edlebrock air gap there great manifold on the street and dont loose all that much on a victor up high but shite on them in the midrange.Definately a good spark (NOT PROCOMP) and convertor depending on the cam.

Your push rods will be allright as long as there straight .I am not a fan of spools on the street there hard on axles a lsd set up right is quite fine.

I said he could leave the convertor out. Even still you can find NEW convertors for under $600 for a no name one.
Diff gears will be less than $400.

So if he dosent do convertor and just does the diff and finds a good bosch ignition he'll shit it in under a thousand. Actually you could do the lot for under $1500 if you searched. Buy quality second hand if you can to save some cash. Check out ebay... there is LOADS of this stuff for old holdens.

Buying new with the brand names and much higher quality is obviously preferred but not everyone has a 10 second budget.
