Hey guys,
Just purchased an edelbrock victor junior manifold to suit small block chev. I bought it second hand. When I unwrapped it I noticed that it said 'BOWTIE' just above 'VICTOR JR' and I knew the one I previously owned didnt have that. So I jumped on the net and searched for the model number of '2977'. Edelbrock website has nothing and I cant find any other info on them. I found out that a bowtie manifold is good for cast heads... but thats about all. I want to use it on some cast Dart heads but would like to know if theres much difference between this and the normal victor jr. If you can help please do!! Brett |

Chevrolet 262-400 Small-Block V8
BOWTIE II VICTOR JR. (3500-8000 rpm) Bowtie II intakes provide maximum performance for engines using unported Chevrolet Bowtie cast iron heads #14011058, #14011034 and #10134392. The intake manifold port exits match up to these heads with little or no matching required. This is ideal for classes where rules restrict the porting of intake manifolds to match cylinder heads. The #2972 can be tuned for greater performance gains when used with 1" or 2" carb spacers. In classes where spacers are not allowed, the #2996 should be used. Its similar but theres no reference at all to the part number on my manifold. Im just wondering how effective its going to be when it says that its to be used with unported cast heads whereas i have ported darts. A call to the engine builder might have to be made to clear things up. |

All they're saying is that it will work well unported. Some classes in the states dont allow certain modifications so some of the manufacturers make parts (like this manifold & some heads) which already have big ports/runners.
I know with the 235cc RHS Pro Topline sbc heads, they forged a head then ported the shit out of it, flowed it, got it to where they wanted it THEN used that one as the mold so to speak; so that ALL of the heads from then on are a high flow head out of the box. Does that make sense to you?

I understand what youre saying. I also rang the engine builder who said to take it in and show him. He said that aslong as its pretty similar to a standard victor junior that it should be fine aslong as its not a tall high rise or anything. (Taller than victor jr) But should be fine. Strange how I cant get any info on it however.
