Default Which is Better 307 or 327

Hi guys I am in the process of re-powering a couple of old Holden projects I have on the go at the moment (FB - EK Holdens) and I was wondering peoples opinions on what is suggested I have narrowed it down to the 307 or the 327, the main uses will be street driver and will be rebuilt to fairly standard specs. I will also be towing a couple of vintage caravans with the cars so Torque will have to come into the equasion as well.

Cheers and thanks in advance
Matt

In Queensland, due to the weight of the cars, am limited to 329 cubes or I would have gone with a 350, but seeing as that is out of the question these two are my best options.

what they said..... no substitue for cubic inches. cant have the 350 then go the 327 just give it a right old kick in the guts with nice cam for towing and youll be good. if youve got the extra dollars then nothing wrong with working it a bit

I say, go the 350, the block is the same as a 327, what are they gonna do, pull your motor down to check the crank?

No but it's easy to look at engine number behind dissy to see what engine it is. If they take it over the pits they'll find it.
Go the 327, nice cam, bit of head work and you'll get an easy 350 to 400hp that will tow that caravan of yours anywhere.
Go the EK's

I agree... but if your going for that extra torque stroker is the best option.. 383 as van said would they pull down a engine to check if its a 327 all depends on what you want to do?? but pro068 has a good point that a 327 with a tow cam will tow a caravan and would bring the cost down alot..

Thanks guys, considering I am not trying to fry tires and I do want to at least stay on the right side of the law till it is registered, I will go with the 327, treat it to a cam and some nice head work and if that cant tow the van then nothing will!
Thanks for the help and ideas
Matt

If your using it for towing i would look at a set of vortech heads they make great torque and with the dollar at the moment they would be a great option.Good runner size on a 327 .
