Default My New Bel Air (Help Req)

Hey All...

I have picked up a nice 63 Bel Air 'headbang'

Now I need some wisdom. As much as one can love the drum brakes, it is time for an upgrade.

I have heard that some of the early holden disk front ends will bolt straight in.

A point in the right direction would be a huge help.

Edit:
I need to refresh my browser to see the pics I posted... Maybe its just my crap internet.

I heard HQ Discs would fit.

Can anybody shed any light on this?

Cool ride. I have a 59 Chev.

If they are the same as the 59 Chev which I beleive they are the HQ disk will fit. You will need to buy Kit that has brackets to allow the calipers to bolt to the spindles. Also you may need to get 63 chev bearing seals and have the roters machined to make them fit.
Not sure where you are but give Allstar Classic American Parts (Qld) a call 07 5529 4629.
Also give Classic chevy a call they are based in Sydney Smithfield. Don't have the number handy but I will get back top you.

Let us know how you go.

Yeah coming along well. I've replaced all front and rear control arm bushes, tie rod ends, all ball joints, panard bushes and caster bushes. I installed a new ignition switch and barrel/key.
I took all the key locks out and had them coded as all locks were different keys. Just had a new windscreen installed $$$$$ ouch! I still have to install an AU thermo fan and a waterpump.

I had to do the front bushes, and left hand upper ball joint. Every thing else was in good shape.

Oh the windscreen.... Ouch Indeed! I got mine installed TODAY! Thanks to Shannons, so it didn't hurt my hip pocket, although I had to get a screen with a tint across the top... I was going to have to wait 2 months to get a clear one out of the states.

Hey Hardware, As I am just starting the work I have not required many parts.

Currently all thats required to get her on the road is an upper left ball joint.

How did you go with the discs?

Hey nice Belair, I have a 64 Belair which i have spent a lot of time redoing the brakes on.

Just wondering if you are still looking at discs for the front?

I run a bolt on wilwood kit on the front which i had imported from the usa via vpw, kinda puts the VT kit to shame and costs the same.

How much was the kit delivered?

What are your thoughts on these?

Yes I have seen the VT brakes , My dad will be getting some hubs and brackets from them for his 62 pontiac as he already has the calipers and rotors They seem like a good kit, but i saw the wilwood kit and just had to have them!

I also dont use a booster anymore, it took it and the pedal out and replaced them with a wilwood dual master cyl pedal assembly, but you will still headbutt the dash!

From vpw.com.au
I had to put a 50% Deposit on them and they took about a month to arrive from the usa. I also picked them up from vpw in epping.
