i just bought a crane blue racer hydraulic cam and lifter package apparently it is supposed to be dialed in to the degree specs that came with it.
i live about 250kms from my mechanic and don't want to drive the motor over to i'd rather take the whole car so he can then dyno and touch it up. if i set my cam the standard setting that is advised by workshop manual will this cause me dramas???? it has a double row timing chain and the bottom cog on the crank has only one key way. please help???? |

m8, just install it strait up, unless ou have an all out high compression race engine and know where the flow figures peak out then you wont notice an oz of difference.
blue racer cams are good but still for street engines and are hyd cams so any benifit from a dial indicator set up will be lost in the hyd lifters inhability to rev past 6000rpm

'Dialing in' a cam can mean to do nothing. All it means is that you should measure the cam lift/crank rotation and ensure it meets the cam manufacturers specifications. You can 'dial in' cams by retarding or advancing them but I don't think this is necessary in your case.
In your case it's just a safety precaution to ensure that the valves will be staying clear of your pistons and you'll be making good hp. |
