Default What is a 350 zz4 ??

Can anyone tell me whats difference between a 350 zz4 4 bolt and say a normal one ??? is there anything special with them ???

Well, for a start, four bolt mains means the main bearing caps that hold the crankshaft in (to put it bluntly) have four bolts, two each side, to hold them onto the block. The is done for strength and reliability at high RPM and high HP engines.

ZZ chevs generally have adifferent cam for more power, torque etc and it may come with different heads.

yep i know the differance between 2 and 4 bolts.....
So did zz chev motors come from the factory(ie a better block ) or are they
a crate donk like summit or Performance Unlimited sell ??

I am asking as this is a chev the wife is looking at and i am trying to work out what a zz4 is ?...

350 zz4 4 bolt block with 9.5-1 comp
Pro Action Alloy heads
Crane roller cam and lifters
Crane roller rockers with manly studs
Edelbrock Air Gap manifold
700DP Holley
MSD 6AL ingnition
Dyno sheet for 380 flywheel hp and 396 lbs of torque

i think they may be a Factory GM performance Gen 2 motor. i.e alloy heads. on cast block - with a bit of fruit simular to what you have listed.
thats my guess....
