Default VT2 S/C V6 Calais

Hi,
I have a 1999 VT2 Holden Calais SUpercharged V6 and would like to know somethings.
Firstly, would it be better for me to change to a manual transmission or to get a trans kit, high stall etc for my auto (Also if I convo'd to manual I would like to retain traction control).
I live in New Zealand and am not really sure what is involved in a trans kit etc so could comeone please explain to me what I want exactly so I can get an accurate quote.
Also, what is everyones experiences on exhausts and what sounds the best.
Lastly, do the computer chips make a noticeable difference, which is best and do they still need to be tuned. Also, does anyone know if I can get a chip shipped to New Zealand or where to buy a good one in New Zealand and do I just get an auto-electrician to install it.
Thanks in advance for all of the help.
Thanks again

is your vt standard or worked if standard are you going to to have it worked with the exaust sound doesnt mean power you're better off with a good set of extractors with mufflers that are free flowing that should give power & note can't tell you about computor controled cars as for your your drive line you need to answer the first part of this post then sugestions can be made

Hey,
Standard Calais.
Also, what do you think about the gearboxes.
I have been told that a Celica box will work but I dont know if the Traction Control is gearbox controlled or diff/engine controlled.
Thanks
Adam

Keep it aout and save yourself the hassles. Get a good shift kit and a 2500rpm stall coverter. Also, the F.I.T. exhausts soud bloody awesome unlike most other exhausts for the V6s. They really know their stuff with these engines and are the ones to talk to for sure. Let us know how you go.

Hi,
Thanks heaps for all the great advice.
Any particular type of shift kit I should ask for at the transmissio shop or just ask for a good one.
Also, what do you mean by weld 2 more position in there.
Thanks

Talk to the trans guys, tell them that you want a nice firm shift for performance and towing. This is also sometimes called a stage 2 kit. This will increase the life of your trans as well as give better performance.

How hard would it be to do an engine swap to V8.
Also, I have heard lots of bad problems with LS1s ie oil leaks etc.
Is there any other options (LS2 etc)
Thanks
Adam

adam think about it you've got the basis for a good car with what you've got perth street did up a naturaly aspirated v6 & it pulled mid 12sec why don't you look into at a good getting heads fully worked chip to suit extractors beaf up the auto 2600 convetor & 3.7 diff ratio i recon you'll do it for less money than changing to a v8 & less hassel
