hi guys does anyone know why my gas system would be back-firirng thru the throttlebody and then blowing holes in my frickin airbox lid, so far its happened twice and both times i was about to give it a little more stik than i usually do.
this has only been happening since i had the new gas switch and fuel pump put in, anybody know whats going on?

It happened with my old VN. The gas is too lean. I blew up 4 airboxes before I found out. Get it tuned. Best to run a bit rich than lean on gas. Early V6 commodores are well known for it. Go for a 1 colder plug, set them about 1.3 mm and a good set of gas leads like ICE. Make sure the ignition coils don't have too much resistance. Gas needs a good fat spark.

I think it's probably coincidental that it happened when you changed the switch. Just check the tube that goes to the MAT???? sensor on the firewall. Mine backfired so severley that the intake tube pushed back into the MAT sensor vacuum line and into the sharp edge on the firewall and cut it through. Made it even more lean.

i was sthinking of getting it tuned, maybe after i get a new performance memcal thingo, but i don't necessarily think i'll do that now, coz my bro told that the gas mixer "float" or something from the mixer can be blown out of it and into the motor and then blow it up
