Default wanna work my old vk wagon 6

just got hold of a vk wagon with a straight 6 in it lookin to put some work into it but have a budget of 1 thou-1.5 thou just wondering if you,s could help me out with some idea,s on what to do to get the most power out of it unluckaly i have to keep the 6 cause of license ristrictoins and still at school

get yaself a 30/70 cam, a 350 holley and manifold, and a 2 1/2inche exaust.. small changes but make a difference

unless it's injected, then i'd upgrade to a XF falcon throttle body

vk desire's on the money.

Tri-Y extractors (dirt cheap at ever wrecker), 2.5in system with a single lukey turbo muffler (few hundred) 30/70 cam (couple of hundred).
I'd replace the valve springs if you're planning on revving it.

Recently replaced my 350 with a 465 4bbl and it made a world of difference in terms of cold starting/creeping through traffic (moved from Tumut to Canberra lol), so if you can stretch to $1500 all up that's what i'd be looking at. Doesn't lean out at high revs like the 2bbl did either...

in my old sedan i had the full lukey 2 1/2 exhaust, extractors, the note was tame b4 2000, but after that was loud as a bitch, in the wet in 2nd doin 40ks, i'd gradually put my foot down and the thing wouldnt stop spinnen, pulled some nice smoke too
