My Heater only blows cold air!
I've been told I can take off the heater hose and blast it with the garden hose to clean out the pipes. Will this work or do I need to replace the heater core? |

it will heip but what car make is it old or new if late model 80 90 20 then u might have vacum problems in some cars the vacum controls the heat if lins are not conected proply u wont get heat some models eg ford have a control valve on the heater hose witch sometimes block up with rust again if u dont use coolant u will get rust blockidge in water systems if the heater core needs to be changed witch is unlikly unless leaking then u dont use coolant and ur hole motor will need power flushing see ya nothing worse than no heat

Check Heat Controls On The Dash Behind To Make Sure They Are Opening The Heat And Make Sure U Have A Thermostate Instaled Otherwise It Will Never Get Hot Last But Not Least If All Fails Get Engien Flushed And Maybe A Lower Temp Controlled Thermostate

what they said above, but also (and im assuming u keep an eye on this but if u dont and it hasnt been happening for very long) u need water flow in ur motor to heat up to create the heat for the heater, have u checked ur radiator? im guessing u would, most ppl do, but if not do it before u discover a possible blown head gasket or other water leakage problem.

Is the shutoff valve opening. Try removing it and just join the heater hose ends together and see if you get heat. Are the heater hoses getting hot.
I think most HZ have vacuum. My setup is HZ and it's vacuum. Do you have a vacuum leak and is not opening up the heater tap? doc
