ok. straight up in 100 words or less
into an LH torana

come racing crank 3.48 stroke
come racing chev large journal rods
keith black pistons .030
ported red motor heads
come racing hvs-252 solid cam
peter micheals stripmaster manifold
750 vacuum secondary holley
pacemaker tri-Y extracters

that's the basic story
i bought the basic motor as a runner and so far i've spent about 150 hrs on it cleaning up the stuff that holden didn't do and port matching

Default Done!.... nearly

fINALY FINISED! hooray'chewi'

it goes harder than my 253 vh, with un tuned carbs and no exhaust. just has the standard head for now, got to save some cash to get my 161 head worked. it has no oil pressure. and a hardcore lifter noise. muttter mutter, yeah and the solieniod is stuffed. hithead

i thaught it would be nice to follow up this post so you guys didn`t think i had my hand on it when i was starting this.

next is putting the engine in the old calais, and going to save my beans for the jet powered monkey bike project.'headbang'

good to see some progress.

the lifter noise is probably due to the no oil pressure thing. try another pump

how have you set your rockers? actually, are they standard or rollers?

i'm assuming that the oil pump was working fine before this

Standard rockers, bridged type, hydraulic cam, after they were cleaned i whacked them on and started to do them as you would a soild cam, as in #1 both up(down) tighten, move to number #5, then i thaught stuff it should self ajust, and nicked them all up. thats how i did it. < dodge? i fix shit like i play pool, "hit and hope" mwhahaha, this was not my engine, i brought it as a 235 and got a mate to change the rings. so dunno if the pump was ok.

the bridged style rockers should be close enough just done like that. you really should check the preload and shim if necessary, but the lifters will compensate for now.

i'm still calling your oil pump. or a problem in your oil pickup. either a leaking gasket or cracked pipe

Default looking to modify injected 202

hey guys, this site is great, found lots of cool things to check out. but down to busines, chances are the answers i'm looking for are already put up here sumwhere, but i'm too lazy to find them. i've had my vk berlina for over a yr now, and while i've dragged many cars (lost most races). my question is, would it be worth it to modify the current motor if so, wot do i need to do? im lookin to get as much power from as i can, any and all information would be most appreciated....and if a v8 conversion can be done for under 2k, then that would nice to kno as well

cheers

p.s vk's rule! followed by vs statos

you can do one for under 2 grand, just pick up a cheap donor car that has all the gear u need.

ill put it this way. i brought a vk calais its got 1yr old paint, v8 lsd diff, recoed 308 with extractors and trimatic for $2300. its now my daily driver and gets the looks from all the wogs in ther vl turbos

just keep a lookout and you will find!!!!

not at all....you can pick up a injected 5 litre fairly cheap or even better, just do a standard conversion like i said above, then later on bolt up a injection top end.

i see a few places are getting in the ls7 motor in a crate thing. any idea on how much bigger these beasts would be than the 304? like physically and would they fit into a vk engine bay without redoin enginebrackets? (assumin of course the vk had an 8 in it already)
