the higher the ratio the more it will rev at a given speed, you will lose a little top speed but who drives on public roads at 200+ kph (unless your an idiot) the higer ratio will even give you a few extra kw due to a lower drivetrain loss.

for a CIA the cheap way, cut a 4" hole underneath your airbox and install a 4"30Deg PVC bend in the hole with the top sticking up 1". the bend will have some grooves (normally for glue) which you can place a fat o'ring in to secure it into the bottom of the air box which by now you will have cut out. Cut the holes with a jigsaw or carfully by hand like I did.
Looking in the wheel arch, make sure the bend is pointing forward, ie opp direction to tire. wrap some flyscreen or equilvalent material around inlet end of the bend to prevent rocks and water entering, hold this in place by rolling a o'ring tover the bend. This could only be a problem if you drove though deep water (for a Commodore). Looks good and best air flow you can get to a 3.8. also, seal the airbox area where the normal air inlet is. I would do this setup even if given a new over radiator type CIA . Last edited by ron; 03-01-2005 at 12:29 AM. Reason: spelling |

you also have to be careful with this mod as i know that if the cops find it you have to weld the hole back up
