Cool, never seen one of them.
Looks to be the goods. I notice you haven't bothered aero'ing the guides - I used to, or at least cut them down on the od a bit where they poke into the port, apparently the flow around a round bar is pretty ordinary. But I recently did some back to back testing on WRX heads with & without the guides modded - SFA difference, despite the fact that there should be, so now I don't bother either, so much easier to just bump them up out the way for porting then bump em back down without ever fully removing them, keeps the seats concentric etc. What block is the guy running? - blue 3.3, 186s or 179hp? I have my doubts a red 202 block could take the power & rpm that head would make the motor capable of. |

A mate of a mate had a turbo red 6, was making a bit over 700hp & doing it easy, but he couldn't keep a block together, even a .020" over 179hp block split. He's dialled it back now, with a fresh 179hp block & only 600odd hp, so far so good. We thought about fitting deep head studs (clear through the deck face & screwed in down in the bottom of the water jacket near the mains) to hold the block together a bit better, as well as making a brace for the welsh plug side of the block - but in the end he figured that seeing as we don't have a strip anyway he may as well dial it back to what a stock block will take & save some coin. |
