you can buy the cross member you're after from dellow or CRS. Or make it your self if you're handy with a welder... which I'm not, so I bought mine.

Take all holden 6s to the dump.
Modernize and educate your self with a V6 conversion and realize how simple it really is.

then enjoy the benefit of power with better economy.

why not leave the red motor in it and just change the box ?

The red 202 makes more power (assuming its a hq red motor!)

Hmmm

interesting quote.

my VS ecotec returned 10L per 100k on unleaded and used slightly more on premium.
my VK 202 carb returned 9.7L per 100k on E10. unleaded doesn't have enough octane and pings like a bastard

yes, the VS had more power, but not better economy.
the VS had a sports system.
the 202 had a sports system that is WAYYY too big and a 350 Holley. I've since replaced the 350 with a 390 and get slightly better fuel economy and MUCH better driveability

If you were gonna go to the trouble of doing that conversion in a HQ, why not go for a V8 instead of a V6? Apart from that, ive always been a fan of straight 6s over V6s, so maybe im biased. But yeah, mac151 is right about the crossmember.

The coversion to the M75 is easy.Use the 5spd yoke and a tailshaft from a UC torana 6 I seem to recall I used the same crossmember just redrilled the holes in the chassis rails (easy to do) and a bit of modding in the tunnel when you cut the hole in the foor. The speedo is a vastly different storey though, couldnt get it anywhere near right. Am going back 24yrs here. But the tailshaft and crossmember was easy.
